‘One Day for Change’ is an annual event – now in its second year, that provides all staff across 14 countries in Asia Pacific the opportunity to give one day of their time to support a cause or a charity within their communities. The initiative kicked off last July and was held again this June.
As part of Dentsu Aegis Network’s commitment to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the focus of this initiative is to create positive impact and support all the local communities that the network has presence in.
All Dentsu Aegis Network agencies within the region – which includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, took part by leaving their offices to volunteer. In order to achieve even greater impact, all agencies within one country came together to support one another – just as they are supporting the community, towards local and/or national causes.
The challenge was to create a unified approach for everyone at Dentsu Aegis Network to contribute something back to society, and to make a positive difference to people who rely on the support of others.
In order to maximise client and supplier support, the plan was therefore for the whole of Asia Pacific to volunteer one day of their time on the same date, where the Asia Pacific offices and champions up to the challenge of creating and coordinating such an enormous opportunity for over 10,000 staff in the region.
This year’s 'Champions for Children' initiative saw great success: over 6,180 employees rallied together to get out of the office to make a positive contribution to children in their local communities. Activities ranged from excursions to local attractions, educational activities, child health programmes to a blood donation drive, fundraising and much more.
Overall, 29,039 hours were dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities we live and work.
The initiative united colleagues across brands and countries as they all volunteered on the same day. Staff were able to challenge themselves in new and exciting environments, alongside colleagues they might not have interacted with before.
New CSR partnerships in various markets were also formed – in which the Asia Pacific teams will continue to build and leverage these relationships for many years to come. With the numerous initiatives inspired by One Day for Change, Asia Pacific now has a series of brilliant CSR case studies spread across other markets.
